This week you will learn how to share presentations with Prezi and SlideShare.
ACTIVITY
1. Create a Prezi presentation.
2. Create a SlideShare presentation.
3. Paste a link to both presentations in your blog and comment on which presentation tool you preferred. Take time to experiment with these tools and consider how they might help you present information more effectively.
Please Note : An existing PowerPoint will form the basis of your presentation’s content.
See instructions below.
PREZI
Prezi is a great alternative to PowerPoint. It differs by having the ability to zoom, pan and layer levels of information. Existing PowerPoint slides can also be uploaded and enhanced – adding value by connecting them in a way that comes naturally to Prezi, but is impossible with PowerPoint.
Take a look at some examples by Ned Potter, an Academic Librarian at the University of York. They are best viewed with a full screen.
How to create a Prezi presentation
1. Go to Prezi.com.
2. Click the blue “Sign up” box in the upper right corner.
3. Select the free “Public” account and fill out your details.
Your registration will be confirmed by email.
4. Select “+ New Prezi”. Enter a title and brief description of your presentation.
5. Choose a “Blank” template.
6. Click on the PowerPoint icon at the top of the page.
You will be prompted to select a file : S Drive > Public Branch meetings 2010 > Select your branch.
7. Once the file is uploaded. Select “Insert all” from the panel on the right-hand side of the screen. Select “Layout” and make sure the “Add a path” box is ticked. Now click on “Insert” . Your Prezi will appear on the canvas. Click on the tick icon.
8. To view your animated Prezi, click on the blue “Present” button in the top left-hand corner.
Now that you know how it works, next time try using a template to create your own Prezi from scratch.
If you are still unsure, go to Learn Prezi for a brief YouTube tutorial.
How to share your Prezi presentation
1. Go to Your Prezis > Select the presentation > Change the Privacy settings to Public (Please Note: You cannot make your Prezis private when you join with a free account).
2. Click Share > Copy the link generated under the “Viewing” tab > Now paste into your blog.
